  • Daylilies are sun-loving plants, blooming best in full, all-day sunlight.
  • Also, with 6 hours of direct sunlight, their bloom is about normal.
  • With nearly all varieties, the abundance of bloom decreases as the amount of sunlight decreases below 6 hours a day.
  • If grown in full shade, many varieties bloom very little, if at all.
  • These two varieties are able to bloom about normally with very little, or no, direct sunlight during the day. Soil moisture and nutrient levels may also be involved.
