Daylily 'Luke'

Hemerocallis

  Luke

46 - inch height         6 - inch flower

Huge, shimmering, rosy raspberry flowers.

From T. B. Maxwell in Louisiana, who Registered it in 1969 as follows:

" 30 in. height. Early Midseason. 7 in. flower. Dormant, Diploid, Cherry red self with yellow throat. "

Petals undulate outward. Both petals and sepals reflex gently, their edges lightly ruffled. The predominant color is a deep rose emerging from a gold center. Petal midribs, as well
as edges, are often a silvery white. Petals are veined with more intense pigment,
adding to the shimmering effect. A multitude of buds carries this variety
through a very long period of bloom. Though a diploid, its heavy
substance makes it tolerant of a day of heavy rain.
Grown since 1980 here at
Bloomingfields Farm,
the flowers have been a little smaller, and
much higher. (About descriptions).
A grower's rarity today.
